Uncommon Endeavors

Are you ready for the adventure? Are you up for the challenge? Are you ready to reach new limits?

Every day of life can be an adventure and every day at Uncommon Endeavors will certainly be an adventure that seeks to equip you for the rest of life. While no one is ever fully prepared for everything, there is a foundation that can be laid to help us thrive in life. Uncommon Endeavors seeks to lay this foundation with a unique blend of faith, fun, and friends.

The program is split into two sessions which can be completed in any order or you can just come for one session. During them you will build confidence in Christ, learn practical skills, develop teamwork, create life-long friendships with like-minded young women, and get a foundation for life that will assist you in the years to come.

More Information

The time spent at Uncommon Endeavors is life changing. The skills will come in handy throughout all of life and the time to focus on God will deepen your relationship with Him and make you more Christlike. On top of that, you will be able to make life-long friendships with likeminded girls who can challenge you to keep walking with God the rest of your life.

We hope you can join us this summer for an incredible adventure.

Session One Details

Uncommon Endeavors Session 1 is held at a retreat center in Osceola, Wisconsin. It combines practical skills with sessions about God and living a Christian life. There is an emphasizes on being prepared to be a godly woman and a responsible homemaker.

The classes include learning some basics about caring for your car and handling emergencies (like a flat tire), being a good manager of your home and able to handle plumbing clogs, flipped breakers, holes in the drywall, etc., knowing how to help an injured or ill person, keeping yourself and others safe in a variety of situations, and more.

In additional to the practical skills, you will learn about God and how to live as a Christian. Most mornings and evenings there are devotions and sessions that dig into who God is and how He wants us to live our daily life. They are designed to ground you solidly in your walk with God. You will also be given time to seek God personally.

Session Two Details

Uncommon Endeavors Session 2 is held at a campground near Osceola, Wisconsin. You will camp during this weeklong session which is why it includes more outdoors skills. During the week, you will cook your own food, get time alone with God, and have a lot of fun.

Many of these skills push you outside your comfort zones and help you work together and rely on God for the strength and grace needed for each day. The actual skills themselves may not be used much in your day-to-day life, but the lessons you will learn about depending on God, being willing to try new things, and work with others are invaluable.

Getting out into the woods for a week provides an opportunity to draw close to God away from the distractions of our twenty-first century world. It also enables fellowship to happen as you interact with other students and the staff in a more intentional way than happens in normal life.

Uncommon Endeavors session 2 is an incredibly unique opportunity to draw close to God and develop skills and attitudes that will be helpful for the rest of your life.

Hear From our Alumni

"What did you learn at [Uncommon Endeavors]? This is a common question and my original answer was team work! Looking back through the years, I would now say that [Uncommon Endeavors], was an incredible experience, where I began to apply the life lessons my parents had taught me in a whole new way and to establish a foundation for myself, as a young person on the verge of adulthood. The building blocks of dependance on Christ, flexibility, servant leadership, and so much more, are aspects of my [Uncommon Endeavors] experience that I use every day."

– Grace, Ohio

"When I went to [Uncommon Endeavors], I was amazed at how completely [Uncommon Endeavors], prepared me for life. If it had only prepared me for many emergencies, large and small, and given me dear friends that have stuck with me to this day, it would have been valuable. But it went deeper. The teachings, disciplines, and the atmosphere taught me to put Christ in the center of everything, to love and value Him above my chief joy. I can't put into words what that has meant to me."

– Joy W. Kansas

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We want everyone to have the chance to come to Uncommon Endeavors and understand that sometimes it is hard to manage the program fee. Each year we provide scholarships to students who need them. These scholarships may range from a couple of hundred dollars to a full-ride scholarship.

If you are interested, please email us and let us know why you want to come to Uncommon Endeavors, what your needs are, and why we should give you a scholarship. We will evaluate each request and determine how we can make it possible for you to attend.

Our scholarships are provided on donations from alumni who want to see others have the same great experience that they had.

Absolutely! There are benefits to coming to both sessions the same summer but each session stands alone so they can be completed in any order. You can do one this summer and one next summer or do them both the same summer (assuming we are able to run both). You can start with Session 2 and then come back for Session 1. The options are flexible.

We offer gluten free, dairy free, and nut free food options. We are also able to accommodate most other allergies or dietary needs. The application has a spot that asks about those needs so that we can plan ahead.

If you have a very complicated list of allergies, please talk to us. Our kitchen staff has years of experience handling many different allergies and we will see if we can work to accommodate you or come up with a plan where you supplement what we can provide with your own food.

Our staff members are women who love the Lord Jesus Christ and have attended Uncommon Endeavors and/or Advanced or STEP (which the International ALERT Academy ran until it split off a few years ago to become P31 Adventures). We have strict requirements about the character of our leaders and endeavor to have women whose lives are above reproach and represent Christ. Each leader also has a background check run on them. Our leaders go through staff training before the program, which covers leadership training and child abuse recognition and prevention training. If you have additional questions about our staff, please reach out.

We do make exceptions for 13-year-olds to attend the program. Several have in the past and they have always been able to handle it and keep up. If you are interested in coming but are too young, reach out and let us know. We may be able to work it out for you to come.
